Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan reportedly shelled out $4.95 million for a sprawling 179-acre ranch in Wyoming.

The prolific writer is rumored to have recently purchased a property, known as Papa’s Creek Ranch.

His latest purchase has two trout streams and offers a place for waterfowl hunting, according to TMZ.

Despite the high price tag, the land has minimal structures built on it, so the actor has “a blank canvas to work on.”

The ranch is 65 miles from Jackson Hole and is also said to have been visited by Michael Keaton during the summer.

Latham Jenkins and Matt MacMillan were the brokers in charge of the listing.

It is unclear whether Sheridan, who has an estimate net worth of $70 millionplans to move there or use the space for a new filming project.

The showrunner also owns two ranch properties in Texas: the $350 million, 266,255-acre Four Sixes Ranch, which he purchased in January 2022 with a group of investors, and the Bosque Ranch, a 600-acre property where much of Yellowstone and its spinoffs are filmed.

Last year, a Wall Street Journal report revealed that the star charges Paramount up to $50,000 a week to film Yellowstone on his own ranch in Texas.

He also asks the network for $210,000 to train actors at a “Cowboy Camp” held on his own property and rents out herds of cattle for $25 a head.

Sheridan declined a request from the WSJ to be interviewed for the article.

At the “Cowboy Camps,” actors learn to work with horses and realistically portray ranch life. The WSJ reported that Paramount paid $214,979.61 for the camp prior to Season 5, which lasted about a week.

Of that amount, about $33,000 went to food alone. The use of their horses was also expensive: Paramount had to pay $2,000 per head.

In another example cited by the WSJ, a pastor who lived thousands of miles from the set also charged the production $3,000. The pastor explained to the skeptical production office that he was working on one of Sheridan’s ranches and preparing his horses for filming.

Sheridan also uses his favorite farrier to work on the horses.

According to the WSJ, it costs Paramount more than $500 million a year to create Sheridan’s shows. That figure also includes the first season of the 1923 Yellowstone spin-off series, which cost nearly $200 million.

Sheridan has several Yellowstone prequel and spin-off series in the works, including 1883, 1923, 1944 and The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer.

News of its latest purchase comes after Deadline confirmed that “negotiations are underway for a sixth season” of Yellowstone, despite previously stating that the series would pick up after season five.

Although sources stressed that the deal is still up in the air, the upcoming episodes would focus on Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, who play Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, following Kevin Costner’s dramatic exit from the neo-western drama.
