Dramatic footage captured the moment a driver performed high-speed burnouts before his car crashed into a tree and burst into flames.

Police were called to a street in the north-west Adelaide suburb of Woodville West at 1.45am on Monday after reports that a Holden sedan was on fire in the middle of the road.

Witnesses, who reported hearing an “explosion,” told police they saw the driver flee the scene as the vehicle caught fire.
