A seaside property 200 meters from one of Australia’s most stunning beaches has just hit the market and its ‘magazine-worthy’ refurbishment is wowing everyone who passes by.
Rosie and David King, from Adelaide, had been searching for the “perfect” holiday home since 2019 when they stumbled upon the Aldinga Beach cottage in 2022 for $1.17 million.
They now hope to sell their newly created luxury residence ‘Casa Billie’ for $1.7 million.
‘We went to Palm Springs and fell in love with the mid-century modern architecture. The landscape, the colors, everything,” Rosie told FEMAIL.
‘We wanted a blank canvas that we could transform. As soon as I saw the house, I knew it was the one.

Fleurieu’s three-bedroom coastal home now transports visitors to the diamond beaches of California with the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea behind them, a portal to a different destination.
Rosie said the house had “great bones” and the right character features to carry out her vision, including the beautiful curved windows and the amount of space in the front and back yards.
“It was originally sold as a knockdown, which broke my heart,” he said. “It had a lot of potential, it was in very good condition.” I really enjoyed turning it into something completely new and giving it a new life.’
Previously, the house had a yellow brick exterior and standard fixtures, which is a far cry from Rosie and David’s complete remodel.
Its exterior is now bright white like the moon and is inspired by the white buildings of Santorini.
There is also an outdoor dining space with equipped grill overlooking the backyard.
The master bathroom is especially striking with floor-to-ceiling pink tile, a curved shower, and a spacious tub.
An outdoor shower is installed at the rear of the property and opens onto the laundry room and second bathroom.
The kitchen is equipped with Bosch appliances and features warm, homey walnut wood tones along with a curved island bench topped with custom terrazzo.
David is a builder and his experience was essential for the space. While Rosie is not a professional interior decorator, her keen eye worked wonders on two previous renovation projects the couple worked on.
The master bathroom is especially striking with floor-to-ceiling pink tile, a curved shower, and a spacious tub.

Rosie chose the house’s tiles, flooring, wall colors and much more, playing with different tones and textures.
They also completely changed the floor plan of the house, forcing them to excavate the previously established rose garden into an easy-care desert plot.
‘I really wanted to keep the rose garden, but we pretty much moved all the internal walls. There was no way,’ she said.
The backyard consists of a modern fireplace with a curved bench.
Home cooks will be delighted to discover the kitchen equipped with Bosch appliances and featuring warm, homey walnut wood tones.
The spacious rooms have beautiful curved windows and textured walls.
There is still 300 m2 of intact outdoor space that can be transformed, perhaps adding a swimming pool, a vegetable garden or a granny flat.
Another aspect that makes the house especially unique is its surroundings.
“We are very close to the beach so there is a mix of houses in the area but ours is quite different,” Rosie said.
The landscaper expertly chose native plants that blend in with the beach environment.

“I was worried it would stick out like a sore thumb, but it fits the area really well,” Rosie said. “Especially the olive trees make the place look very Mediterranean.”
While the couple originally purchased and rebuilt the house to be their vacation home for decades to come, the renovation project shed light on a new dream for them.
‘We thought we would have the house forever, but we loved the building process so much that we want to do another project. “We weren’t planning on selling it at all, but it’s a bittersweet experience.”
