Australians have been warned to watch out for a new dating term that means their partner is being unfaithful: coleslaw

Australians have been warned to watch out for a new dating term that indicates their partner is being unfaithful.

In a strange new trend sweeping online forums and apps, cheaters have taken to calling their partners “cole slaw” because they’re a “side dish.”

While most people are familiar with the terms “ghosting” and “love bombing,” the little-known new term has left many in the dark.

Women have begun to notice their partners inexplicably mentioning coleslaw in conversations in recent months, and many are now realizing the double meaning.

Cheaters often refer to their “main” spouses or partners as foods that are considered main dishes, such as eye steaks.

Australians have been warned to watch out for a new dating term that means their partner is being unfaithful: coleslaw

The term was apparently first used when an American TikTok influencer posted a video admonishing women who chase after kidnapped men.

“Some people are happy to be a side…okay coleslaw,” the video was captioned.

This is not the first time food has been used as a hint.

For example, ‘breadcrumbing’ is a dating approach adopted by those who have no intention of being tied down.

Taking its name from the classic tale of Hansel and Gretel, breadcrumbing involves leading someone with a trail of flirtatious messages but never following through.

Some of the worst offenders may not even know the recipient of their taunting text messages.

Dating experts in the US also previously discovered the term ‘food call’, similar to the common phrase and Americanism ‘booty call’, where a person sets up a date with someone they are not romantically interested in to have a drink and dinner.
