A passenger on a Virgin Airways flight ended up in handcuffs after he allegedly tried to break down the cabin door.

The incident occurred on Monday on VA696 between Perth and Melbourne, forcing the flight to return to Perth Airport just an hour after take-off.

“A passenger suddenly went crazy running up and down the aisle and banging on the cabin door,” a caller told Melbourne radio station 3AW.

The incident occurred on flight VA696 between Perth and Melbourne on Monday, forcing the flight to return to Perth Airport (flight path pictured).

“Two air marshals had to restrain and handcuff the individual.”

The flight had already suffered a delay of about 90 minutes at takeoff.
