Love is Blind co-host Vanessa Lachey opened up about her secret to parenting, which she and husband Nick Lachey follow religiously in their home.

The 53-year-old mother of three shares Camden, 11, Brooklyn, 9, and Phoenix, 7, with Lachey.

She told People that they often tell their children that they love them.

“The one thing we’ve always agreed on is that we always, always want to let our kids know how much we love them,” she noted.

The reality personality shared that she wanted to rewrite the narrative of being a mother and express the reassurance she wasn’t taught.

“It sounds so simple, but I didn’t have that constant affirmation, physically and verbally, when I was younger and neither did Nick,” she admitted.

The brunette beauty reflected on her childhood as she explained that she wants to model love and family togetherness, even during hard times.

‘I mean, of course you know you’re loved, but do you really? And sometimes you like to hear it and you like to feel it. And then I don’t think we’ve ever talked about, she said.

“This is what we have to do, but between the two of us, we know that our children always need to know that they are loved, especially after a disciplinary moment,” she stressed.

She is adamant that even in situations where she has to correct her children’s behavior, she always follows up a few hours later to make sure they understand how much they are being looked after.

“At some point, after the discipline settles in and they’ve had their moment, we’ll come in with a loving — whether it’s a loving touch or a loving conversation — to tell them why this was important and why it came to be.

“I think it’s just about letting them know that they feel loved,” she added, “I mean, that’s all I wanted to know that I was loved by my mom and my dad, and then we will always give it to them.”

TV too admitted that she limits her children’s access to social media and bans them from watching Love is Blind and some of Nick’s other shows.

Recalling her time in Hawaii, she said: ‘I actually signed a pact when I was on the mainland with the school that we wouldn’t let our kids have phones until they were in sixth grade.’

She also revealed how important it is for her to teach her children the difference between reality and fiction, especially since their parents are actors.

“No, they don’t watch our shows,” the mother of three revealed, “They watch NCIS: Hawaii because they know so much about (it). And I actually come home if I get cut, I come home with the cut, so they can touch it’.

Vanessa continued: ‘They took the scar off so they can see, “This is fake, mom is fake. This isn’t blood, it’s fake. It’s a movie,” So for that, I’m grateful that they can watch it , but I don’t think they’ve ever seen anything else we’ve done.’

Nick and Vanessa were first linked back in 2003 when they met on the set of MTV’s Total Request Live when she hosted the show while Nick regularly performed with his band 98 Degrees.

The Love is Bling co-hosts started dating in 2006 and despite bumps in the road, the couple finally said ‘I do’ in 2011.
