UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has broken his silence after reports of an alleged assault emerged on Saturday.
A Drug Free Sport International drug testing agent filed a police report, saying Jones threatened to sue her and her colleague and proceeded to threaten to kill them. The incident reportedly occurred while they were attempting to collect a urine sample from Jones on March 30.
On Saturday, Jones posted video from a driveway camera of him leading officers out after the ordeal.
“I want to address reports of me allegedly threatening a drug tester’s life and taking his phone,” Jones wrote on Instagram. “I want to clarify that there is a video showing both drug testers leaving my house after the testing session, where we exchanged a high five and a hug.”
‘Although I was frustrated by the lack of professionalism and used profanity out of frustration, it ended in a friendly and amicable manner, not threatening at all. In fact, I was celebrating a friend’s birthday party at my house and I think it’s perfectly normal to celebrate in the comfort of my own home.’
Jon Jones posted a video of himself hanging out with testing agents amid assault allegations.
A drug testing agent reported that Jones threatened to sue her and her colleague on March 30.
‘I must say that this particular tester behaved unprofessionally and even violated standard protocol along with HIPAA laws. Throughout my 20 years of being drug tested, I have never before encountered such an incident with a DCO officer.’
The video shows Jones shirtless as he high-fives the officer. As they continued walking toward the end of the driveway, Jones tapped the colleague on the shoulder.
In a police report from the Albuquerque Police Department, the testing officer claimed that Jones took her phone and began threatening to sue her and her colleague after she refused to take a urine test.
The officer also told APD that the heavyweight champion threatened their lives before agreeing to take the urine test. According to the report, Jones said, “Why do you damn people come so early? Do you know what happens to people who come to my house? They end up dead.”
The report also noted the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from Jones and how he agreed to provide a urine sample after the alleged threats.
Jones made his heavyweight debut in March 2023 and won the vacant title from Ciryl Gane via submission and has not fought since. She was scheduled to fight Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden in November before suffering a pectoral injury in training camp.
Jones remains the undisputed heavyweight king as he recovers from his surgery. Meanwhile, British heavyweight star Tom Aspinall holds the interim championship in his absence.
