Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill revealed that he re-aggravated a wrist injury during his controversial Week 1 arrest.
Before the Dolphins’ Opening Day game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Hill was detained, removed from his vehicle and handcuffed near Hard Rock Stadium.
Body camera footage of the incident was later released and showed excessive force used by Miami-Dade officers while pinning Hill to the ground. As Hill did not seem to resist, the video sparked mass outcry.
Ahead of Miami’s Week 10 Monday Night Football matchup against the LA Rams, Hill told ESPN’s Lisa Salters that he is dealing with a torn ligament in his wrist. He also noted that the injury was aggravated again by the encounter with the agents.
“He said it’s something he’s really been dealing with all season,” Salters said on the broadcast. “He said it started at training camp, but then he said it got worse again when he was arrested just before the season opener.
Tyreek Hill re-aggravated wrist injury during controversial Week 1 traffic stop
Hill was arrested outside Hard Rock Stadium before the Dolphins’ Opening Day game.
“The police took him down,” he added. “He said that’s where the most damage was done.”
‘Tyreek said they did an MRI and the MRI showed he has a torn ligament and he said he’s playing. He said: “I don’t really know what to do because I’ve never been injured before.” I’m going to continue playing. Nothing will stop me,” Salters continued.
Despite the injury, Cheetah prepared for Miami’s matchup against Los Angeles on Monday night.
In his last eight games, Hill has struggled with just 34 receptions for 446 yards and a touchdown. His only trip to the end zone came hours after his arrest when the Dolphins beat the Jaguars, 20-17.
The Dolphins (2-6) hope to snap a three-game losing streak against Los Angeles.
