A teenage girl has died while driving a pram in rural Queensland.

The girl suffered serious injuries after crashing the four-wheeled vehicle on private property at about 1.57am in Canoona, about 50 kilometres north of Rockhampton.

Paramedics assessed the girl at the property but were unable to save her, the Queensland Ambulance Service told 7News.

Just three weeks ago, a 25-year-old man died in a buggy accident on a beach in Townsville.

In early August, a man in his 50s died after an off-road vehicle accident while herding sheep on a rural property in Tasmania.

In March, 16-year-old Gage Fowler was killed in a horrific overnight rollover on his quad bike in Darling Heights, Queensland.

Emergency services were called to a property in Darling Heights, south of Toowoomba in south-east Queensland at around 1.30am on March 17, following reports that an all-terrain vehicle had overturned.

Gage’s death sparked an outpouring of grief among his heartbroken friends at the time.

“Until we meet again, brother. A gift to us all,” wrote one.

Another friend wrote: “I’ll always be thinking of you bro. Rest in peace.”

Paramedics were called to the Queensland property but were unable to save the teenager after the crash.

More than 180 lives were lost in quad bike-related incidents in Australia in an eight-year period between January 2011 and March 2023.

Quad bike safety has been a focus area for the ACCC, which pushed for stricter standards in 2018 as record levels of ATV-related deaths in Australia peaked.

New safety regulations were introduced in 2019 in an attempt to reduce injuries and deaths associated with travelling in these vehicles.
