South Carolina senator and vice presidential hopeful Tim Scott will become a stepfather on August 3 when he marries Mindy Noce, an interior designer and mother of three.

Scott, 58, proposed to Noce, 47, in January, just before the New Hampshire primary. The couple will marry on August 3 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Noce, a Charleston-area designer, has three adult children with her ex-husband. Scott has never been married.

A lifelong bachelor, Scott has long been secretive about his love life, but after meeting Noce at church a year ago and bonding over Bible study, he said he knew he had met his ‘soulmate’.

Noce has lived in South Carolina since graduating from the College of Charleston, where he majored in Health Sciences.

According to his company website, Noce was introduced to the area when his three older brothers played soccer at The Citadel.

She has resided on the Isle of Palms and Daniel Island for almost eighteen years and is, as she describes herself, “a mover and shaker, with a creative eye and love of people.”

Scott said he asked Noce’s parents for permission to marry her two weeks before Christmas and then spent a month planning his proposal.

He originally said he was going to ask her out after a game of pickleball, but his friend suggested he choose something more romantic.

He settled on Kiawah Island, but said the cold weather meant it was difficult to convince Noce not to wear gloves.

Scott said: ‘My joke is that as soon as I saw his picture, I figured it out. But the truth is, about two weeks later, I knew there was something very different about her and her faith.

“In our first conversation which lasted about an hour and a half or two, we ended up deciding to do a Bible study together.”

At first, Scott was secretive about their relationship, leading some to wonder if his girlfriend really existed.

When asked in the post-debate floor about his girlfriend, Senator Scott responded nonchalantly: “She’s great.” He told reporters that the couple has been dating for “several months.”

In September, Scott told a crowd in Iowa, “I’m dating a lovely Christian girl,” although her identity remained a secret.

After the November debate, Noce joined the senator on stage for photos and was seen holding his hand.

The Washington Post published an in-depth article about the senator’s love life, and Scott said a friend from church had set them up.

The two hit it off talking about God and using an app to do a Bible study together.

On a date at a Charleston restaurant, she ordered steak and he ordered swordfish, and although they shared plates, the senator later learned that she doesn’t like swordfish.

The pair played pickle ball and Scott was embarrassed to discover that he was the “weak man on the court.”

Early in her career, Scott claimed to have been a 30-year-old virgin and ran a campaign under a pledge of abstinence.

In 2012, after 16 years in public life and winning a seat in the United States House of Representatives at age 46 and still single, Scott admitted that he is no longer a virgin.
