After being together for only two years, Jill Martin decided to separate from her husband Erik Brooks.
The 46-year-old TODAY contributor met financier Erik Brooks in 2017 on a dating app. The pair hit it off and got engaged in 2019, but that was just the beginning of their tumultuous relationship.
Just a year later, the couple separated and due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Erik lived in Boston with his children, while Jill stayed in New York.
However, it seems that absence made their hearts grow fonder and after living separate lives for 18 months, they reunited and Jill showed off her engagement ring once again in 2021.
In April 2022, Jill publicly took responsibility for some of the relationship’s issues, as she shared that she wasn’t picking her battles at the time. She felt reluctant to give in and regulate her reactions toward Erik.

On her big day in 2022, Jill was walked down the aisle by her father Marty and mother Georgette, and her father even officiated at the ceremony.
Despite the obstacles they faced, in September 2022, the lovebirds had a lavish wedding that was held at the stunning New York Public Library, for their 200 friends and family.

Jill sentimentally wore a blue garter from her mother’s wedding, as well as Georgette’s wedding ring.
Instead of opting for a traditional wedding cake, the bride’s dessert of choice was plenty of Carvel Fudgie the Whale ice cream cakes.
The couple also kindly asked their guests to donate money toward the college tuition of Samantha, an 18-year-old student whom Jill discovered while serving on the advisory board of the Garden of Dreams Foundation.
Fast forward to 2024 and Jill’s spokesperson shared that the couple filed for divorce in early August and the process is almost settled.
The rep added transparently that Jill had a “momentous” past year.
On June 11, Jill shared an Instagram reel showing her trip to Lake Como, which shows the two posing lovingly and laughing together.

Just this morning, while on the set of TODAY, Jill posted an Instagram Story showing the drinks tasting she’d been participating in, with the overlay text reading, “Drinks needed.”
It was Jill’s candid caption that may have given followers an insight into her cracked foundation, in which she shared that she was struggling emotionally and used her free time as a form of escapism.
She wrote transparently: “My wise friend told me that you can take a break from sadness, worry and anything bad whenever you want. You can take a few days and just enjoy and be free. And that’s exactly what I did.”
Jill may have been dealing with her marital issues in private, but she let her followers in on her harrowing journey of being diagnosed with breast cancer, just three months before the two were set to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
The TODAY host publicly shared her gratitude for her tremendous support system, while praising her husband, family and friends, just one month after discovering her life-changing diagnosis.
She has since undergone a double mastectomy and chemotherapy.
Jill is now cancer-free, however, she will continue to take her medication for the next seven to ten years.
Her spokesperson added that she is “focused on her health and being an amazing daughter, friend and new aunt.”
