A pair of well-connected Democrats have issued an explosive memo detailing their harebrained plan to replace President Joe Biden on their 2024 ticket.
Biden would be required to step down as front-runner in mid-July to clear the way for other Democrats to run in a “flash primary” that would include celebrities like Taylor Swift and Oprah Winfrey. according to Semafor.
The six candidates with the most delegate votes would also have to commit to running an exclusively positive campaign.
The plan is the brainchild of Rosa Brooks, a Georgetown law professor who served in the Obama and Clinton administrations and as a volunteer political adviser to Biden’s 2020 campaign, as well as Ted Dintersmith, a venture capitalist and educational philanthropist who has donated to several Democratic campaigns.
They have already circulated the plan among Democratic donors, as well as Biden campaign and administration officials, and say they have broad support.

Under the plan, Biden would have to step down as the Democratic nominee in mid-July and announce the new system for deciding who would take his place, with the backing of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Any Democrat hoping to become the new nominee would then have just a few days to announce his or her candidacy, and the six with the most delegate votes would have to pledge to run an exclusively positive campaign in the month leading up to the convention.
The so-called “blitz primaries” would then include weekly forums with each candidate moderated by cultural icons such as Michelle Obama, Oprah and Taylor Swift.
The candidate would ultimately be chosen by delegates through a ranked-choice voting system before the start of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on August 19.
Brooks and Dintersmith then suggest the candidate should be introduced on stage with Biden, former President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton.
Part of the plan calls for celebrities like Taylor Swift to hold weekly town halls with the candidates.
Brooks and Dintersmith also suggested Oprah as a possible moderator.
He insists that donations would start to flow if Democrats follow through, and argues that Biden would be celebrated as a “modern-day George Washington,” putting aside his lust for power for the good of the country.
“We can drag ourselves toward an embarrassing and avoidable defeat that ends democracy. Or Democrats can make this our finest hour,” the memo says.
“While we look to the Lord Almighty for help, the Lord helps those who help themselves,” he continued, seemingly referencing Biden’s watershed interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos in which he said only the “Lord Almighty” could tell him to drop out of the race.
“We need to act now,” the memo says.
But he acknowledges that the plan has some problems, as Biden has so far refused to step down.
Under the plan, Vice President Harris would not automatically take over as president, as several Democrats are backing her.
The 81-year-old president has insisted he will not drop out of the race.
Biden has faced calls to withdraw since his dismal performance in the CNN debate on June 27.
“Will it happen? Probably not, unless Party leaders, including President Biden, who truly put the country first, make a timely decision,” the memo says.
‘Yes, President Biden has served his country with distinction for five decades. Yes, this honorable man deserves our respect, gratitude, and admiration. But not our blind loyalty.
“America desperately needs a life-giving option,” he said.
Still, Brooks said he received near-universal support from those to whom he sent the memo, suggesting party leaders would be on board if Biden endorsed it.
Under Brooks and Dintersmith’s plan, Vice President Kamala Harris would not be guaranteed the nomination.
The 81-year-old president has faced calls to abandon his speech since his dismal performance in the CNN debate on June 27, when he repeatedly fell silent mid-sentence during the debate and gaped as Trump spoke.
Once finished, Biden was seen standing around his podium before First Lady Jill Biden finally escorted him off the stage.
It has since been revealed that the president was late for his disastrous debate with Donald Trump.
She left her Atlanta hotel 27 minutes late and arrived less than half an hour early, with no time to learn where to look when Trump spoke. Washington Post reported.

Biden later blamed “exhaustion” and being “sick” for his debate performance, even claiming he had to take a COVID test before the debate.

Words like “heartbroken,” “doomed” and “damn mess” were used by more than half a dozen congressional Democrats. According to NBC.
Another post-debate interview also made headlines after Biden said she was a “black woman” while seemingly trying to praise his appointment of Harris as vice president.
But it was later revealed that the president’s team sent the Philadelphia radio interviewer WURD questions to ask the commander in chief.
The interviewer, Andrea Lawful-Sanders, has since been fired, and WURD said in a statement that her use of pre-determined questions “violates our practice of remaining an independent news outlet accountable to our listeners.”
She added that “the practice of delegitimizing Black voices continues today” and is concerned that any perception of accepting prepared questions would make the station appear to be a “mouthpiece” for the Biden administration.
Biden continues his campaign and will make stops in Pennsylvania on Sunday
As of Sunday, at least 10 Democrats had called on Biden to drop out of the race.
Judiciary ranking member Jerry Nadler and House Veterans Affairs Committee ranking member Mark Takano are among those who have said they want Biden to end his bid for the White House.
Reps. Don Beyer, Adam Smith and Joseph Morelle, the top Democrat on the House Administration Committee, also said Biden is doomed.
Meanwhile, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) has begun organizing a group of Senate Democrats to discuss Biden’s future.
Still, Biden is pressing ahead with his campaign: On Sunday, he appeared at a predominantly black church and an ice cream shop in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
“Guys, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go check on us for ice cream,” Biden muttered. “You know, isn’t it really boring to have a president who’s known for two things: Ray Ban sunglasses and chocolate ice cream?”
Some at the outdoor event described the president’s comments as difficult to hear.
“If I stay here much longer, all those people in the back are going to die of heat stroke,” Biden said. “I’m not going to do that.”
