Australian music icon John Farnham is suddenly going viral across the United States, and for a very surprising reason.
The 75-year-old singer’s career-defining song, You’re the Voice, has been given new life thanks to an “inspiring” campaign video backing Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for US president.
The uplifting two-minute ad was not created by Kamala Harris’s election campaign, but by a passionate American political commentator who runs the popular X Truth Matters account.
The video begins with a montage highlighting some of former President Donald Trump’s “controversial” statements before the Farnham classic builds to images of hope and unity.
Despite the clip’s origins, many took the time to comment on how moved they were by the video, particularly with the clever use of the song.
“This is a true masterclass in how to combine music with message,” wrote one fan on X.
‘I’m glad to see someone finally dusted off that old John Farnham song, You’re The Voice.’
Another commented something similar: “Can 2024 be the year America makes the right decision and realizes that John Farnham has one of the greatest voices of all time?”
