A cocktail expert at Sunday brunch blushed after she told singer Lemar “you’ve got quite a spicy edge” as he complimented her cucumber margarita.
Cocktail creator Portia Freeman joined hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer on the Channel 4 Sunday show to whip up three boozy concoctions for the celebrity guests.
Starting with her version of a Bloody Mary, called the Smoky Bloody Caeser, Portia introduced her second cocktail: a cucumber margarita.
Lemar said the drink was a winner for him, at which point Portia said, “You’ve got a pretty spicy edge too.”
She immediately seemed troubled by what he had said and the guests burst out laughing, but despite attempts to move the conversation forward, Portia was clearly mortified.

After saying the gaffe, Portia buried her head in her hands and paced back and forth across the studio kitchen.
“This is a palate cleanser,” Portia declared while introducing the Mezcal drink.
“What you want is for everything to balance and complement each other.”
Simon said: “That’s good, isn’t it?”, before Tim asked Lemar what he thought of the cocktail.
“Yes, this one is beating me so far,” Lemar responded, at which point Portia made the mistake.
After saying “spicy edge,” Portia buried her head in her hands and paced back and forth across the studio kitchen.
“The garnish is um, you taste really spicy,” Portia said as she tried to steer the discussion away from the tires, when Tim interrupted to say, “Everyone, stop.”

It comes after Sunday Brunch host and Strictly star Simon Rimmer revealed in January that he would be closing his vegetarian restaurant after more than three decades.

The celebrity chef, 60, took to social media to announce he was closing one of his Greens restaurants in Didsbury, Greater Manchester, after the landlords increased his rent by more than a third and costs made the business ” non-viable”.
Rimmer opened the restaurant with his partner Simon Connolly 33 years ago, advertising it with the slogan: “Scary carnivores since 1990.”
The news was met with dismay after he posted a video message with the grim news on X, formerly Twitter, as well as Instagram.
The Simons, as they call themselves, opened another Greens restaurant in Sale, Greater Manchester, in July 2022, which will remain open.
Their menu is made up of a mix of small and large plates, with their cheapest item being the vegetarian black pudding at £4.50 and their most expensive item being the falafel burger at £14.50.
In the video message, Rimmer said: “This is a very sad day. After 33 years running The Greens in Didsbury, we have sadly had to close the door.
‘Our landlords have increased the rent by 35 percent (within the region), the cost of raw materials, the cost of heating, light and electricity, the employment of people and the general costs of food have fact that the business, unfortunately, has become unviable.
‘Unfortunately we have closed the door with immediate effect. It’s a heartbreaking day.

Rimmer and his business partner Simon Connolly opened Greens in Didsbury, Greater Manchester in 1990.
‘I would like to thank every member of staff who has worked for us over the years, every customer who has walked through the door, our amazing suppliers, our neighbors, our friends and anyone who has ever placed a foot inside the door. .
‘I can’t believe I’m writing this message. Big Love. Thank you for the last 33 years and hopefully we will see you in Sale, if not here. Lots of love.’
Comedian and Love Island narrator Iain Stirling was among those to mourn the restaurant’s closure.
He wrote to Rimmer in X: ‘Mate, one of my favorite places in my Manchester days. Sending you lots of love x.’
Fellow comedian Russell Kane added: ‘Nooooooo!!! Tell me which one it is. The sale is certain!!!’
Masterchef 2015 finalist Tony Rodd, who also announced the closure of his own restaurant today, wrote in solidarity: “I’m so sorry Chef. We did the same thing today.
‘It is a horrible situation that we all find ourselves in, through no fault of our own. Stay strong with yourself and the team.”
