The 75 Hard Challenge was developed in 2019 by Andy Frisella, a podcaster and CEO of supplement company 1st Phorm, and is the latest trendy health challenge Tik Tok.

Participants of the trend must follow a diet of their choice, a fitness and wellness program without deviations for 75 consecutive days.

During that time, aspirants must follow a structured diet without cheat meals, drink 4 liters of water, give up alcohol, and take a photo of their progress every day.

They must also complete two 45-minute workouts a day, one of which must be outdoors, and read 10 pages of a nonfiction book (no audiobooks allowed).

The program cannot be modified in any way to suit individual lifestyles, and progress resets to day one if any of the daily goals are missed at any time.

MailOnline spoke to health experts about how safe the extreme regime is earlier this year and why they wouldn’t recommend it.

Both personal trainers and medical professionals agreed that it’s important to adopt consistent, healthy habits, but they said 75 Hard simply wasn’t sustainable.

They expressed concern about the creator’s lack of qualifications as a dietitian or trainer, as well as the injuries some may suffer without days of rest between workouts.

There is also a high risk that the rigidity of the challenge could “encourage obsessive behaviors and negative body image” that ultimately affect health.

However, creator, American entrepreneur and podcast host Frisella describes the challenge as a “test of mental toughness.”
