A savvy shopper has shared a ‘genius’ hack for replacing Tesco Meal Deal drinks with a hot beverage at no extra cost.

This Morning’s ‘Coupon King’ Jordan Cox revealed that Meal Deal fans can opt for a hot Costa drink instead of a cold one at no extra cost.

For just £3.40, customers can choose from a combination of a main dish, such as sandwiches, sushi or pasta dishes, a side, such as chips, yoghurt or cold meats, and a cold drink, with options including Coca Cola, water or milkshakes.

However, Jordan has introduced a little-known addition to the selection of drinks included in the popular offer.

In a recent videoIn a post on his Instagram page @couponkiduk, the deal hunter shared how customers who purchase a meal deal can take advantage of the Costa Express machine, which can cost shoppers £3.40 for a regular latte.

This Morning’s coupon king Jordan Cox has revealed that Meal Deal fans can opt for a hot Costa drink instead of a cold one at no extra cost.

Cox said: ‘You can get a hot Costa coffee drink from the self-service machines as part of your meal! It has to be the normal size, but it can cost £3.40 on its own!

‘The price of a meal is £3.40 (with a Clubcard) and £3.90 without. So if you’ve just come for a hot drink, you can get a drink and a snack for free! Or you can save even more with your lunch.’

He then revealed his method for getting a food parcel for much less than £4 (the price without a club card): by choosing the cheapest individual items included in the parcel.

Cox says that “not all meal deals are created equal” and that the cheapest sandwich, snack and drink options “are actually cheaper than £3.40”.

One possible combination included in Cox’s summary includes: a ham or cheese sandwich, priced at £1.50, a bottle of water for £1 and a 42g packet of Haribo for 60p, bringing the total to £3.10.

He added: “So if you buy a simple ham or cheese sandwich, it will be cheaper if you want all three, or it will be even cheaper if you want to leave out a drink or a snack.”

Dozens of fans took to the comments to thank Cox for her “amazing” advice, while others shared their disappointment that particular hot drinks were excluded from the deal.

Dozens of fans took to the comments to thank Cox for her “amazing” advice, while others shared their disappointment at the exclusion of certain hot drinks from the deal.

One person wrote: “I appreciate it,” while another exclaimed: “How did I not know that? How cool!”

A third said: “I think the cheapest food is even cheaper than you think. You can get a single banana for 27p as a snack.”

Meanwhile, one disheartened customer wrote: “Caramel Frappé not included.”

This comes after Tesco customers were outraged when it emerged the supermarket is now selling jars of fruit as a main course rather than a side dish in its meal offering.

In May, an image emerged of Tesco offering what could be considered an insubstantial fruit pot filled with berries as a main dish within its food offering.

At X, one customer shared an image of the updated menu featuring a mix of grapes and berries as the main dish, saying: ‘Fruit powerhouse as the main dish, we’re bringing forward the general election.’
