Swimmers and divers participating in the Olympic Games have dazzled fans not only with their athletic prowess but also with their impressive physiques that are on full display in the skimpiest of swimsuits.
Since the start of the Games in Paris, thousands of comments have piled up on social media expressing admiration for the scantily clad swimmers, in particular 22-year-old French diver Jules Bouyer.
But Tom Daley has revealed there’s a very practical reason swimmers are turning up in nearly naked swimsuits at the Olympics – and it’s not to enhance their physique.
During an interview in 2016, Tom Daley revealed why swimmers should actually wear the tiny uniform.
“They have to be small because everything has to stay in place,” she told Graham Norton on his show, explaining that it was all for practical reasons.

“If you’re spinning around, the last thing you want is for anything to move out of place. And when you hit the water, you don’t want anything to move because it would hurt,” he added.
Earlier today, Tom Daley’s former diving partner Blake Aldridge defended leering at male athletes at the Olympics, saying “they’re going to get stared at regardless of what they’re wearing.”
Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, the 42-year-old took on actor Douglas Robson, who insisted athletes “should not be sexualised”.
“I think if you’re in the public eye and you’re wearing something like that… people will notice what you’re wearing,” revealed a skimpy Team GB swimsuit.
Douglas argued that the sexualization of muscular athletes would filter into society’s beauty standards.
However, Blake stood firm and insisted that the Olympics are a place for people of all sizes.
‘That’s the beauty of the Olympics, there are people of all shapes and sizes and everyone has found their little niche that makes them amazing at what they do, whether they’re big, small, fat, skinny, whatever.
“And they will look at them regardless of what they are wearing,” he insisted.
