Rasmus Hojlund is Manchester United's most valuable player, according to the CIES Football Observatory

Statisticians have revealed who the most valuable footballer is at each club and their picks for some of the country’s best teams will surprise you.

Rasmus Hojlund is Manchester United’s most valuable player, according to The CIES Football Observatoryand the Danish striker could be worth up to £101m.

And Liverpool’s most prized player is no less surprising, with Darwin Nunez the winner, valued between £72m and £92m.

As for the world’s most expensive star, Jude Bellingham continues to lead the way and would become the most expensive player of all time, at up to £236m, if any club tried to sign him.

This calculation was made by analysing the value of more than 6,000 transfers and the prices paid in the past for footballers with similar characteristics.

Hojlund, 21, joined the Red Devils from Atalanta last summer for £72million but has so far failed to shine at Old Trafford, scoring 16 times in 43 games and just 10 times in the Premier League.

Nunez, meanwhile, has endured a difficult couple of seasons at Liverpool since joining from Benfica two years ago in a deal worth up to £85m.

The 25-year-old scored just 15 goals in his first campaign and 18 last season, despite being given a litany of clear-cut opportunities.

Bellingham broke out in Birmingham when he became the youngest player to make an appearance for the team at just 16 years and 38 days.

His star has been on the rise ever since and, following his initial £88.5m move to Real Madrid last summer, he has added La Liga and Champions League trophies to his trophy cabinet.

With a value now almost three times what Los Blancos paid for him, Bellingham has certainly proven to be a good investment for the Spanish side.

Right behind the Englishman in second place is Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, whose price ranges from £171m to £217m. However, these figures are likely to increase by the day, as the Norwegian has already scored seven goals in his first three games.

Most of CIES’ selections are unsurprising, with Bukayo Saka, valued between £115m and £147m, and Cole Palmer, valued between £84m and £108m, picked as Arsenal and Chelsea’s most prized assets.

Swedish striker Alexander Isak is Newcastle’s most valuable player, with a potential buyer’s price tag of between £64m-£81m, while West Ham’s main man is Mohammed Kudus (£60m-£77m).

Tottenham fans may be raising their eyebrows at their most expensive star, according to statisticians. James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke and Heung-Min Son have all been dropped in favour of… Destiny Udogie.

The Italian left-back arrived in north London in 2022 from Udinese for just £15m, but his value has already soared to between £55m and £70m.

Completing the rest of the upper echelons of the list are stars from outside the Premier League.
