Renee Zellweger was spotted filming new scenes for Bridget Jones in the pouring rain on Tuesday, after angering A-list stars by asking them to leave their homes during filming.

The 55-year-old actress is back in action as her famous character in the latest film in the Mad About The Boy franchise.

Renee was forced to wear a protective hair hood and a black padded coat as she braved the bad weather on set in Hampstead.

She later donned a striking green skirt and a fluffy grey jacket as she attempted to keep dry with a large umbrella.

The new Bridget Jones sequel is reportedly driving celebrities crazy with its London filming schedule.

Stars including Harry Styles and Rami Malek, who live close to the north London streets where filming takes place, are not too happy with the production.

According SunFilm bosses have left letters on the doors of local residents asking them to only come and go at certain times so as not to interfere with filming.

A source said: ‘The film is causing chaos in this part of north London where much of the movie is being filmed.

‘The neighbourhoods where stars like Harry, Rami, Ricky Gervais and Rowan Atkinson live are receiving letters from production asking them not to interrupt filming.’

The letters reportedly ask residents to leave their homes during filming or not to enter or leave while cameras are rolling.

The source added: “It’s like Bridget is holding them hostage, and it’s driving everyone crazy.”

The film is based on the novel of the same name, in which Bridget struggles alone with motherhood following the tragic death of Mark, played in the previous films by 63-year-old Colin Firth.

She will also embark on a love story with a much younger man named Rockstar, played by One Day star Leo Woodall, 27.

In the new film, Bridget enjoys a fling with rockstar and gym teacher Mr. Walker, played by 12 Years a Slave actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, as well as rekindling her on-again, off-again relationship with Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant).

Chiwetel, 46, was spotted filming scenes last week, meaning only Hugh and Colin Firth, who has a small role in the film as the late Mark Darcy, have yet to be seen in character.

Renee and Leo were spotted filming together on May 18 in hilarious scenes when Bridget got stuck in a tree on Hampstead Heath.

One onlooker said: “Leo and Renee looked like they were having a great time. There was a lot of laughter, they seemed to get on really well.”

The filming of Bridget Jones comes shortly after the huge enthusiasm of fans following the announcement of the return of the beloved character to the big screen.

Renee first appeared as Bridget in 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary and returned in 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby.

The film was officially confirmed in May, with Renée and Hugh Grant officially returning, after the death of their character, love rat Daniel Cleaver, was faked in the third installment in 2016.

The fourth film in the franchise, based on the books by Helen Fielding, will be released by Universal Film on the American platform Peacock on Valentine’s Day 2025, while internationally, the film will be released in theaters.

Bridget’s creator Helen Fielding has also been spotted on set as she prepares to bid farewell to the beloved character.

Last month it was revealed that Bridget’s obsession with losing weight will be “played down” in the film amid fears it could be a bad influence.
