Peter Andre defended age gap romances as he appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Lorraine on ITV.
The singer and TV personality, 51, whose wife, Emily, a doctor, is 34, said that while some of their musical tastes may differ as a couple, what matters is “how they are with each other.”
This comes after Kym Marsh was forced to defend her new relationship after going public with her new boyfriend Samuel Thomas, 29, who is the same age as her son.
Speaking about his own age gap on the daytime show, Peter joked: ‘There are little differences, music is one of the things I’ve noticed.
‘You know when they say something like ‘ahh this is an old classic’ and it’s from 2015? What do you mean by an old classic?

“We think that the seventies and eighties are old classics, but no, what matters is how we relate to each other.”
Emily shares Amelia, 10, Theo, seven, and their latest addition, Arabella, three months, with her husband Peter, whom she married in 2015.
This comes after Kym was forced to defend her new relationship on Sunday night after cynical Instagram followers attacked the actress for dating someone the same age as her son.
The mother of three had previously confirmed her romance with fellow actor Samuel, co-star of her touring production of 101 Dalmatians, in a social media post.
At 29, Thomas, whom she calls “the most incredible man in the world,” is the same age as her eldest son, David Cunliffe.
And Instagram followers were quick to make the connection after Kym announced her latest romance by describing Thomas as her “soulmate”.
Commenting on the post, one unimpressed follower wrote: ‘Jesus… Another amazing man… 5 minute wonder… looks just like your son.’
A second added: “He looks like your son! Kym, I like you, but don’t say it.”

Her new boyfriend Thomas (who plays bespectacled Tom in 101 Dalmatians) also weighed in, adding: “I wonder what’s missing in your life that you need to comment on other people. It’s sad, really.”
Hours earlier, Kym revealed she had found love with her younger co-star, her first serious romance since the collapse of her third marriage just over a year ago.
“I met the most amazing man in the world! Sometimes the most unexpected things happen at the most unexpected times. @samuelthomasuk I love you,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself and Thomas.
Sharing a black and white photo on his Instagram account, Thomas wrote: “I wasn’t expecting you but here you are. I love you.”
—Same here. The best things happen unexpectedly. I love you too —Kym replied.
The actress is mother to son David, 29, and daughter Emilie, 27, from a previous relationship with builder David Cunliffe.
The couple, who met in a Lancashire pub, split in 1999, shortly before Kym rose to fame as a contestant on the television talent show Popstars, where she went on to become a member of the short-lived pop group Hear’Say.
Two years later, Kym was appearing on Top Of The Pops when she crossed paths with actor Jack Ryder, a household name at the time thanks to his role as Jamie Mitchell in EastEnders.
They were married at St. Albans Parish Church, Hertford, in August 2002 and subsequently sold the photographs to OK! magazine worth an estimated £300,000.
But seven years later it was all over, when Ryder filed for divorce on grounds of adultery following her apparent affair with her second husband-in-waiting, Jamie Lomas.
At first, friends feared Kym had rushed into her relationship with Lomas, whom she began dating just four months after splitting from Ryder.
The couple met on a train while heading to the 2007 TV Quick Awards, but casual chat soon turned into romance and the couple went public in 2008, a year before their divorce.
They had been together for less than two months when Kym fell pregnant with their first child, but tragedy struck when their son Archie Jay died moments after being born 18 weeks premature on February 11.
The couple had happier news when they welcomed their daughter Polly in March 2011.
They exchanged vows in September 2012 but divorced in 2014; Kym was reportedly blindsided by Lomas’ decision to break off their relationship.
She remarried for the third time to Scott Ratcliff in 2021.
The couple split 13 months after their wedding when Kym filed for divorce citing unreasonable behaviour.
The couple is said to have split after a trial separation, due to work keeping them apart.
A source said Sun:They both really tried to make it work, but the cracks had been there for a while and could only be seen one or two days a week at most.

‘Kym has been very busy, and last year (being on Strictly Come Dancing) meant that even her weekends were taken up with weekdays rehearsing, more recently she’s been filming all over the place and rehearsing for a new theatre run.’
The source added that Army Major Ratcliff’s job had driven a wedge between him and Kym: ‘Scott is based in a barracks down south and has a very busy career. Kym also remains a working mum and lives in Cheshire with her family.
‘In the end, the fact that they lived so far away from each other made it impossible.’
The source said the couple “had a trial separation” and “hoped to get things back on track” but added that they decided “it’s best to go our separate ways.”
