Pedro Pascal said the opportunity to work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer kept him from being homeless.

More than two decades ago, the actor, 48, appeared briefly in an episode that aired in November 1999 and said it ‘saved the day’ as he had ‘less than $7 in (his) bank account at the time.

“My entry level lasted about 15 years,” he told me recently Entertainment tonight while reflecting on the beginning of his acting career.

“We’re talking about being able to see a doctor, get sick, have surgery, pay my rent,” he explained of the difficulties he faced before landing the roles he’s known for today.

The Last of Us star – who was recently cast to star in a modern western alongside Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix and Austin Butler – said the cameo ‘saved the day’.

“I had less than $7 in my bank account and a leftover from Buffy the Vampire Slayer showed up and saved the day,” he continued.

He added that the paycheck is “literally the reason I was able to stay in (Hollywood) and not quit.”

The Game of Thrones alum previously guest-starred as UC Sunnydale student Eddie in the season four premiere episode.

He befriended Buffy – played by Sarah Michelle Gellar – after they bonded over a shared struggle to adjust to college life.

However, their friendship soon came to an end when Eddie is turned into a vampire and Buffy is forced to insert a stake into his heart.

Although his time on the show was short, Pascal and Gellar became real-life friends.

Last year, Gellar shared a throwback photo of them together during filming in 1999, captioning the Instagram post: ‘When #mom met #dad.’

He didn’t hear about her cry until the following week, but then he remembered how he ‘remembered everything’ including fond memories of working with her.

‘Did Sarah Michelle Gellar write about me? I have to get on the World Wide Web,’ he said when ET alerted him to the post.

He then opened up about some of his favorite moments about his cameo on the long-running drama series, which ran for seven seasons from 1997 to 2003.

‘She had ice cream in her trailer and she gave me some. I had to eat lunch in the vamp mask. I remember everything.’
