NFL Week 5 Power Rankings: Will the Chiefs or Vikings be the last undefeated team?

It didn’t take long for almost every team to suffer a loss in this regular season. Just five weeks later, we are left with two teams chasing the 1972 Miami Dolphins. The Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings are the two 5-0 teams left in the NFL. When we ask which team will be the last undefeated team standing, Minnesota is probably the best answer.

If the Vikings overcome an upcoming hurdle, it’s feasible they could go well into November without losing. After a bye in Week 6, the Vikings host the Detroit Lions. It will be a tough challenge that could ultimately decide who wins the NFC North. If Minnesota wins? They have a series of subsequent games in which they will be favorites: against Rams, against Colts, against Jaguars, against Titans. While no game in the NFL is a gift, especially this season, it’s possible that if the Vikings beat the Lions they could go 10-0 heading into the Nov. 24 game against the Bears.

The Chiefs’ upcoming schedule is much more complicated. After their Week 6 bye, their schedule has many challenges: at the 49ers, at the Raiders, against the Buccaneers, against the Broncos, at the Bills. If they somehow emerge unscathed, they will have a period of time: in Panthers, vs. Raiders, vs. Chargers and Browns until mid-December, but it will be a big challenge to go through their next five games without losing.

No matter which team is the last to go undefeated, both should feel very lucky to have made it this far without losing. No other team has done it. Here are the power rankings heading into Week 6 of the NFL season:
