Lady Gaga performed at the Olympic Opening Ceremony on Friday night, but it has now been revealed that it was pre-recorded for “security reasons”.

She sang Mon Truc En Plumes on some steps along the River Seine in Paris, but Maud le Pladec, the choreographer for all the Olympic and Paralympic opening ceremonies, has now revealed that the performance was actually pre-recorded.

Speaking to Variety, Maud explained: ‘Unfortunately, it was the only (performance) that, for safety reasons, we had to pre-record late in the afternoon, once we knew for sure it was going to rain.

‘We had minute-by-minute updates, we had never followed the weather forecast so closely in our lives.

“We assessed that it would be too dangerous for the artists, even with a few drops of rain. (Gaga) wanted to do it without hesitation, so we preferred to record it in advance rather than cancel it.”

Maud explained that the performance would not have worked in bad weather.

She said: “The ground must have been slippery. I was wearing heels, I was very close to the water, there were stairs… We had to be very careful.”

Gaga took to social media after her performance and revealed that she enjoyed the opportunity.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘I feel completely grateful to have been asked to open the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this year.

‘I am also honoured that the Olympic Organising Committee has asked me to sing such a special French song, a song to honour the French people and their tremendous history of art, music and theatre.

‘This song was sung by Zizi Jeanmaire, a French dancer born in Paris, who famously sang ‘Mon Truc en Plumes’ in 1961.

‘The title means ‘My Thing With Feathers’. And this isn’t the first time we’ve crossed paths. Zizi starred in the Cole Porter musical ‘Anything Goes’, which was my first jazz release. (sic)’

This comes after Lady Gaga fans went wild claiming she was “just like them” after she was spotted heading out to get a takeaway sandwich in Paris on Saturday.

She was eager to make the most of the city’s culinary delights, stopping to order a sandwich herself, despite her superstar status.

The star was seen looking typically chic in an all-black ensemble as she sported dark sunglasses and flawless makeup, while accompanied by two burly bodyguards.

Lady Gaga, who said in 2011 that she “loved the ham and cheese sandwiches in Paris”, was seen chatting as she placed her order before laughing and joking with one of the waiters who took her card payment.

She was then seen being escorted outside by her two security men as fans who saw her took pictures and videos.

The star was then whisked away to a waiting car while holding her fully wrapped takeout sandwich in her hand.

As she made her way to the stands, Gaga wore black leggings, a casual navy USA jersey and massive pointy-toed platform boots.

‘Gaga probably tried to order the sandwiches in French, she’s so quirky that way!’

‘Imagine you’re enjoying lunch at a restaurant and Lady Gaga comes out to order takeout sandwiches for her and her boyfriend.’

“She’s living her best life, I’m so happy for her,” “She’s just like me!”, “Where was she and what did she order?!” Gaga said in 2011, “I love Paris, ham and cheese sandwiches,” and now it’s 2024 and we saw her ordering a “jambon fromage sandwich” in Paris again.”
