Netflix fans have praised a long-running cult TV drama as “one of the best” shows they’ve ever seen.

On the popular Facebook group Netflix Bangers, which has more than 3.2 million members, viewer feedback on the show was overwhelmingly positive.

The popular series ran for eight seasons between 2006 and 2013, to rave reviews from Facebook users.

They wrote: ‘I almost lost my job because of this show as I was staying up late at night and waking up late to work the next day.

“If you start watching it, make sure you’re on vacation and be prepared to do a marathon until you finish it. It’s so addictive that you won’t want to stop watching it.”

“Well, welcome to the bandwagon. I’m so happy that the show is finally getting the recognition it deserves.”

Dexter follows the exploits of Dexter Morgan, who works for the police department as a blood spatter analyst but also works as a killer who only targets other killers.

The title character is played by Michael C. Hall, while the supporting cast includes Jennifer Carpenter as Debra, Dexter’s adoptive sister and co-worker, and James Remar as Dexter’s adoptive father, Harry Morgan.

In addition to its eight seasons, there have been two spin-off shows related to Dexter: Dexter: New Blood, which is set to premiere in November 2021, and Dexter: Resurrection, which is set to air in summer 2025.

The latter will also see the return of Michael C. Hall, who will also join the cast of the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin as the inner voice of young Dexter, played by Patrick Gibson.

Production on the Original Sin prequel is still ongoing and the show is expected to premiere in December 2024.

Hall starred on Showtime’s Dexter for its eight-season run from 2006 to 2013, playing the titular forensic investigator who works as a vigilante serial killer, targeting murderers who have escaped the justice system.

It was announced that Michael C. Hall will be returning to the Dexter franchise for two upcoming series when he appeared at a panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 26.
