A bride has shown her wedding looking very different, including wearing a black wedding dress and Dr Martens while getting married on Halloween.

Skyelar Kowalewski, from Indiana (USA), chose a “gothic” theme for her nuptials to her husband Colton, in a ceremony she refers to as her “Hallowedding.”

Skyelar decided to break tradition in almost every way possible and the results were surprising.

The bride opted for a black Mia Bella Couture wedding dress with a long, flowing veil.

The dress even had a high thigh slit, as Skyelar wanted to show off her chunky Dr. Martens boots.

Skyelar said: ‘I chose an unconventional wedding because I really wanted something different to the norm.

“I’ve always liked darker fashion and spookier trends, so it seemed natural to choose a darker, more melancholic and almost gothic style wedding.

“I love the color black in general and I didn’t see many black wedding dresses at the time and I thought it would be cool to do something super different.”

She added: “I always knew I wanted an alternative feel for the wedding and I had already chosen a black wedding dress, so it made sense to wear my favorite Dr. Martens platform boots!”

Skyelar, who also posts on TikTok under the name @ghoulfriendnextdoor, also wore a black rose flower crown.

Skyelar and her bridesmaids had large slits in their dresses to show off their Dr Martens boots.
