A Missouri mother was sexually assaulted during a home invasion while her two daughters and their friend were upstairs.

The suspect is being held in the county jail without restraints.

On Monday, Sarah Bommarito was at her home in Lee’s Summit when a man followed her children home.

“Hey, I think you’re in the wrong house.” That’s what I told him… you’re in the wrong house,’ Bommarito said. fox 4.

The man, who has now been identified as 20-year-old Khalil Malik Cooper, refused to leave the property. Bommarito’s maternal instincts got the better of her and she fought back.

She closed the door and called 911, but Cooper was relentless.

“He went to the door of my house and rang the doorbell incessantly, over and over again, knocking,” he described.

Cooper managed to enter the house through another door. Once he entered the house, he began to sexually assault Bommarito, while his children were playing upstairs.

Bommarito remained on the phone with 911 throughout the attack. The assault was recorded, documented and used as evidence.

“The outcome of what happened to me is very different because of the officer who came in through that side door and didn’t wait, didn’t wait for backup to be sent to him,” Bommarito said.

Officer Price was the first police officer to arrive on the scene. He had to physically separate Cooper from Bommarito and tackle him to the ground until more officers arrived and helped Price.

Cooper has been charged with three felonies, including two counts of sodomy or attempted sodomy and robbery.

“Before you do anything to destroy evidence, do not wash your hands or body. “I wanted to set myself on fire, I wanted to be clean, I wanted all those things, and you have to fight because you will destroy your evidence, so fight back,” she said.

The survivor says she especially wants to thank Officer Price, whose bravery saved her life.
