Shocking footage showed a crazed driver repeatedly hitting a man with his car and crashing into the victim’s friend on a Brazilian street.
Surveillance video captured the moment driver Cristian dos Santos, 28, ran over Gustavo Francisco, 26, on Saturday in the São Paulo city of Campinas.
The driver is seen reversing towards Francisco and dragging him under the tires before the victim’s friend rushes to help.
Dos Santos is then shown speeding towards the couple, missing Francisco but hitting his unidentified 34-year-old friend, who was lifted onto the hood of the car before being thrown.

Moments later, dos Santos accelerated again toward Francisco, skidding his car toward the man and crushing him underneath.
Francisco and his friend were rushed to a local medical center, where Francisco died. His injured friend remained hospitalized.
Dos Santos was eventually arrested by the São Paulo Military Police and claimed that he acted in self-defense after an argument with Francisco and his friend.
Dos Santos alleged that one of the two men pulled out a gun and fired into the air.

Cristian dos Santos left his vehicle furious after running over Gustavo Francisco three times. Dos Santos told the São Paulo Civil Police that he acted in self-defense because Francisco or his friend had fired a shot into the air after an argument.

Security camera images inspected by the São Paulo Civil Police did not show any of the men firing a gun.
“So far no firearm has been found, as the accused alleges,” the Civil Police said in a report obtained by Brazilian media outlet G1.
