Metallica announce first Australian tour in more than a decade

Metal giants Metallica will stop in Australia as part of their M72 world tour, marking their first Australian shows in over ten years.

The band, known for their hits Master of Puppets and Enter Sandman, will perform five shows in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney in November 2025.

The rockers will bring Evanescent, with their hits Bring Me To Life and Going Under, as well as Suicidal Tendencies, best known for their hit Institutionalized.

The tour will mark the first time Metallica has hit Australian shores since 2013’s Soundwave festival, where they headlined alongside Linkin Park and Blink-182.

It follows a canceled Australian stadium tour in 2020, which saw lead singer and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield undergo addiction rehab.

“As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years,” a statement at the time read.

‘Unfortunately, he has now had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.

The band will play Perth’s Optus Stadium on November 1 next year, followed by Adelaide Oval on November 5, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on November 8, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on November 12, Accor Stadium in Sydney on November 15 and Eden Park in Auckland on November 19. .

The Accor Stadium website confirmed that the infamous Snake Pit will be included throughout the tour, which “makes you part of the show and is the closest place to the stage to see the band,” according to Metallica’s website.

Meet and greets are also on the cards, however die-hard fans will be able to purchase an ‘I Disappear Ticket’.

The ticket allows fans to attend all six Australian and New Zealand shows.

Travel packages including tickets and hotel accommodation will also be available in four of the six cities according to Accor Stadium.

The world tour began in April 2023 following the release of their latest album 72 Seasons.

The band’s first album, Kill ‘Em All, released in 1983, included smash hits Jump In The Fire and Whiplash, however, their 1986 album Master Of Puppets really solidified them as the kings of metal.

Presales for the Australian and New Zealand dates go on sale next week, with a Vodafone and Commbank Yello Mastercard pre-sale starting on October 30, followed by a Live Nation pre-sale on November 1 and a general sale and a Westfield Reserve sale in November. 4.
