The reason for ABC star Lisa Millar’s long absence from popular show News Breakfast can now be revealed after she disappeared for more than a month.

In recent weeks, his co-host Michael Rowland presented the show alongside Emma Rebellato, sparking rumors that Millar had left the channel.

“Where have you been these past few weeks?” Do you have a long-term leave from ABC News Breakfast? » said one fan. “A lot of people think you left the show.”

However, on Tuesday morning, ABC quashed the rumors and officially confirmed that Millar would return to News Breakfast on March 27 after completing his filming commitments for Back Roads.

Back Roads is a beloved ABC program that focuses on rural and regional communities across Australia.

“I can’t wait to bring you these two big stories I filmed later this year for ABC TV,” Miller told his Instagram followers Tuesday morning.

“See you in the middle of next week on News Breakfast.”

Millar has also been busy promoting her book Muster Dogs: From Pups to Pros, inspired by two seasons of the hit TV series.

The journalist was pictured signing books at the Adelaide Writers Festival last week before continuing his tour to Cairns.

It comes a year after the ABC Breakfast host hit out at cruel trolls who attacked her over an outfit she wore on the show in early 2023.

Millar said she was sickened by the comments, especially since they were made so close to International Women’s Day.

“The fact that what I wore on Monday sparked vile comments on Twitter, disgusting personal abuse that I didn’t want to and couldn’t repeat here – it was upsetting,” she said.

“I am angry on this International Women’s Day. Angry on my behalf and also on behalf of other women, young women, who see these stories and see someone like me being violently attacked day after day, for whatever reason the bullies can come up with.

“I worry that it might make you think that no progress is being made and that it’s not worth being a woman on the public stage.”

Millar went on to say she received an outpouring of support following the trolling that gave her “hope.”

Rowland stood by Millar and said she was “one of the smartest women I know.”
