A caddy was hit in the head by what appeared to be a full water bottle as wild celebrations at LIV Golf Adelaide spiraled out of control.

Nick Pugh, who is on Lucas Herbert’s bag, was celebrating with the Australian after he birdied two on Australia’s 12th hole.

Bottles and glasses were already scattered around the green as Herbert prepared to close his round with a putt from about 5 feet.

Much more water and beer was thrown from the galleries after the ball rolled into the cup and the Australian soaked in the cheers.

Pugh also played with the crowd, jokingly pretending to dodge plastic bottles falling across the green.

But then, as the caddy turned to put the flag back in the hole, a bottle, which appeared to be full, flew from the galleries and hit Pugh in the back of the head.

He knelt after the painful blow and Herbert approached to check on his caddy’s health.

Footage of the incident surfaced on social media, prompting furious response from some fans. ‘This is a shame. “There is no place for this in golf,” said one of them.

‘What are you waiting for?!? Aren’t you surprised?!? “It was just a matter of time,” added another.
