Meghan Markle is reportedly considering following Prince Harry’s lead by publishing a memoir detailing his life as a royal. However, current issues, including the threat of Prince Harry’s possible deportation and ongoing health issues within the Royal Family, may be delaying the project, according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams.
Fitzwilliams shared his ideas with the express, highlighting the important implications that such a memoir could have for both Meghan and the Royal Family. “In theory, there is no reason why Meghan couldn’t write a memoir. It would almost certainly sell well, probably very well, but as she knows perfectly well, that would depend on how sensational it was,” Fitzwilliams said.
He suggested that time is a critical factor for the Duchess of Sussex. “Currently, with two royals ill, she would appear uncaring and callous if she launched further attacks or caused embarrassment to the Royal Family,” Fitzwilliams explained.
The health issues he referenced involve King Charles III and Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, who are reportedly dealing with ongoing health issues. Fitzwilliams also highlighted another potential hurdle for Meghan: the continued scrutiny surrounding Prince Harry’s U.S. immigration status. The Duke of Sussex’s admission to past drug use in his memoirs, Replacementhas sparked speculation about whether his visa application accurately revealed this information.
“There is also a fear that Donald Trump, especially if he felt provoked in any way, might try to open an investigation into whether Harry declared the drug use he spoke about so openly in Replacement and by promoting the memoirs about his visa application,” Fitzwilliams pointed out.
He added: “The refuge the Sussexes supposedly have in Portugal could come in handy sooner than they thought!” Another challenge Meghan may face is deciding how much to reveal about her own family. “It is also unclear how much he would like to reveal about his own family. She is, except for her mother Doria, separated from all of them.” Fitzwilliams said.
While a memoir by Meghan would certainly generate significant interest and could offer a new perspective on royal life, the timing and potential consequences appear to be holding her back. For now, the Duchess of Sussex remains focused on her business ventures and charitable work, but the possibility of a memoir continues to loom, prompting speculation about what she might reveal and when it might come out. Whether Meghan ultimately decides to publish her story will depend not only on timing but also on the delicate balance between personal and royal dynamics.
