Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly spending time apart as the Duke of Sussex makes efforts to reconnect with the royal family. According to insiders who spoke to OK! MagazineHarry feels “torn” between his new life in the United States and his desire to rebuild ties with his family in the United Kingdom.
“Although she loves being in the United States and wouldn’t want to raise her children anywhere else, she is homesick. She misses so much of her old life, not just her family, but her friends and just being in England.” A source revealed.
Harry has made several trips to the UK recently, including to attend events such as King Charles’ cancer diagnosis and the funeral of his uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes. However, Meghan has not accompanied him “for a variety of reasons.”
The duke, who has previously expressed concerns about bringing Meghan and their children to what he describes as the “dangerous” UK, is reportedly reflecting deeply on his family relationships. “He knows his father is getting older and Kate having cancer has scared him,” the source shared. “He doesn’t want to distance himself from them and the only way to improve relations is to spend more time in the UK.”
However, this effort to reconnect comes with the challenge of spending more time apart from Meghan. “They have both made it clear that she won’t be coming,” the source added, though Meghan is said to be supportive of Harry’s efforts to repair family ties. Despite their time apart, sources say the couple is confident in their relationship. “They both have a lot going on and can’t be together as much as they would like, but they know they can survive this time apart because they have a strong marriage.”
For her part, Meghan wants Harry to be happy and is reportedly saddened that her children do not have a strong connection with their British relatives. “She would like that to change,” the source noted. While Harry works to repair his relationship with the royal family, it is clear that both he and Meghan will need to rebuild trust with the royals moving forward.
