The latest season of Married At First Sight has already been rife with drama, but it’s not just the on-screen antics that are causing a stir.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal producers have imposed a strict new curfew on the 2025 cast after several contestants were labelled “disrespectful” and “selfish” for disappearing during filming.

The decision comes after an incident in which a couple disappeared mid-shoot, causing chaos for the production team.

The cast, which was initially placed under a 10 p.m. curfew on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends, now faces even stricter rules.

According to a leaked email sent to the cast by the production team, the new curfew times have been moved forward to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Sundays, and 9 p.m. on Saturdays.

The change comes after the couple ignored curfew, stopped communicating with production and did not return to their apartments on Saturday night.

A source close to the show said cast members have restricted access to the hotel they are staying at.

“Their keys don’t work after a certain time, so they need to inform the AP (Associate Producer) of the house to let them in, otherwise they’ll be stuck outside,” the source explained.

“It’s a way to try to keep the cast on good behavior and prevent them from coming and going as they please.”

The production email expresses frustration and disappointment with the participants’ actions.

It reads: ‘Unfortunately, over the weekend, two participants decided to break off communication with production on Saturday evening and not return to the apartments before curfew, let alone return at all.’

The message goes on to detail how this “selfish decision” affected more than 15 crew members throughout Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning, with the Nine Network being made aware of the breach.

The curfew is not only a control measure, but also an essential part of maintaining the production schedule and ensuring the safety of all participants.

The production team must keep track of the cast to avoid unforeseen incidents and manage the show’s narrative effectively.

This level of control helps prevent any off-camera drama that could derail the plot or result in negative publicity.

“The complete disregard for this production’s guidelines to ensure all participants remain safe whilst in our care, as well as the total lack of respect towards my team and their weekend, has meant that the below changes will need to be implemented,” the email stated.

The message also highlighted the lack of remorse from the participants involved, stating: “At this stage, my team have yet to receive an apology, let alone any form of remorse, which, frankly, is disappointing.”

The new curfew times are a clear message to the cast that they must abide by the guidelines they have adhered to, emphasizing mutual respect between contestants and the production team.

As the email says: “For those who abide by the rules and share a mutual respect with this crew and production, it is unfortunate that they are affected by these actions taken over the weekend.”

The rest of the cast were understandably unimpressed with the new restrictions, telling Daily Mail Australia they were “complete nonsense” and “not fair”.
