Louis Tomlinson’s sister has revealed she initially thought she was having a boy due to a false gender test result.

Bryony’s life features a weekly candid conversation between the award-winning journalist and five-time Sunday Times bestselling author and her guests.

During the episode, Lottie spoke to Bryony about her brother’s fame, the pain of losing her mother and sister, and also her pregnancy.

The 26-year-old said she first discovered kits that could be made at home when her sister Phoebe decided to order one during her pregnancy last year.

Lottie decided to order the home test, which you can do from eight weeks, to find out the sex of her baby.

She pricked her finger and sent in the blood sample, only to be told a week later she was having a boy.

Phoebe had a big gender reveal party, but then at her 20-week scan she was told she was actually having a girl.

Even though her sister got a false result, Lottie thought the chances of this happening to her would be slim.

So, when she became pregnant, she decided to request the home test, which can be done from eight weeks, to find out the sex of her baby.

The test, which costs around £80 and claims to be 99 per cent accurate, told Lottie she was having a boy.

However, at her 16-week scan, doctors informed Lottie that she was actually pregnant with a girl.

She told Bryony: “I literally sterilized the area, washed my hands, followed all the steps, so I thought there was no way this was going to go wrong.” Come back as a child.

‘Then I thought, oh, I’m going to have two children. I got to my 12 week scan and obviously in the back of my head I had that kind of doubt about what happened to Pheebs.

“So I said to the lady who was scanning me, ‘We’ve had a blood test done, like we know the gender, but can you confirm if you can tell right now?’

“And she said, ‘I can guess about 80 percent accurate at this stage, but she’s a girl.’ I was like, ‘What? Oh my god.’ And then 80 percent you keep thinking: Is it a girl? Is it a boy?

‘And I said, right, I just need to figure it out. So I waited until 16 weeks and got the scan, girl. On the website it says 99 per cent accuracy.’

Lottie, who announced her pregnancy in July, also spoke to Bryony about grief, as her sister Fiz died of an accidental drug overdose three years after their mother’s death in 2016.

Lottie said: ‘It’s quite an unusual situation to have two major grief experiences so close together and also so heavy on each other.

“But it’s also given me a lot of insight into how differently I’ve dealt with things and the different ways I’ve dealt with them, and I give a lot of credit to therapy for the way I’ve managed to cope.”

“I never had it with my mother and then I had it with my sister and the difference between those two experiences was really huge.”

During the emotional talk, Lottie also recalled the conversations she had with her mother about starting a family.

‘I always wanted to be a mother. And my mom knew how much I wanted to be a mother,” she said.

And that’s something I always remember her telling me when she was sick and we knew she wasn’t going to survive.

‘He said he wished he could have seen me have my baby. “So, it’s such a bittersweet thing because I obviously wish she was here.”

In future episodes, Bryony will welcome experts and guests such as James Middleton and Kimberley Nixon, among others.

The sister of the Princess of Wales will reflect on the role pets can play in supporting our mental health.
