Kyle Sandilands has broken his silence after falling short in Melbourne’s latest radio ratings.

During Wednesday morning’s segment, the 53-year-old gave his thoughts on the results and progress of his show after being asked to appear on Channel Ten’s The Project on Tuesday.
Kyle explained that despite the results, the Kyle & Jackie O Show is slowly gaining momentum in the Victorian capital.
“I heard we were invited on The Project last night to talk about Melbourne ratings, because not much happened for us there,” Kyle began.
“We gained another 50,000 people, but apparently that wasn’t enough.”
He added: ‘It’s a slow process, you know, not everyone wants to hear about dildos and ass licking.
“If we’re going to do interviews, we’ll do them on a high-rated show, not some shit like The Project.”

Lauren Phillips and Jason “Jase” Hawkins scored a big win in breakfast, becoming the second most listened to show in Melbourne.
In the latest survey they increased their share from 8.7 percent to 9.6 percent, displacing FOX FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick, who fell from a share of 10 percent to 9.5 percent, into third place.
Kyle and Jackie O’s show came in sixth place with a 5.9 per cent share, behind smoothfm and Triple M’s Marty Sheargold Show.
GOLD FM’s Christian O’Connell still has the highest-rated FM breakfast show in Melbourne with a 10.8 per cent share.
3AW’s Ross Stevenson & Russel Howcroft is Melbourne’s most-watched breakfast show with an 18.8 per cent share.
Duncan Campbell, ARN’s chief content officer, said: ‘Despite 25 years together on air, The Kyle & Jackie O Show is still a brand new show in Melbourne, and we’re encouraged by these early results.
‘In particular, the increase in cume (cumulative audience) demonstrates that the show is attracting new listeners and as that cume converts into loyal listening, we will see engagement increase.

We know it will take a few more surveys before their presence really starts to resonate with Melbourne audiences, but we are excited to continue building on this foundation and are confident that Kyle and Jackie O will continue to capture the hearts of Melbourne listeners just as they have in Sydney.
Tabloid broadcasters fared better in Sydney, achieving a 14.1 per cent share and attracting a weekly audience of 696,000 Sydneysiders.
However, this put them behind overall winner Ben Fordham of 2GB, who moved almost 3 points clear of the pair, having dropped from 14.7 to 14.1.
Fordham gained 0.4 percent to a solid 17 percent of listeners, while 2GB gained 0.7 percent to take the lead.
Kyle and Jackie O hold a 5 percent lead over WSFM’s Jonesy and Amanda, who have 9.1 percent.
Meanwhile, Smoothfm came out on top with 9.8 percent.

On April 29, Kyle and Jackie O brought their morning radio show to Melbourne in a massive multi-million dollar expansion deal.
The move led to the cancellation of Jason “Jase” Hawkins and Lauren Phillips’ breakfast show.
Unapologetic Kyle said he didn’t care if his competitors were fired, as it ultimately came down to who could attract more listeners.
“No, I don’t mind. That’s why we chose Melbourne. We thought, ‘We’ve given Jase and Lauren a good opportunity on KIIS FM, they can’t get any higher than fourth in the radio ratings, so we’ll take it,'” he said. news.com.au.
He added that The Kyle and Jackie O Show moved to Melbourne because it was a “struggling market” and his show could help win back listeners.
