The Virgin Suicides and Bring It On, both starring the 42-year-old actress, were released in 1999 and 2000 respectively and have since enjoyed cult classic status.

The Point Pleasant, New Jersey-born star turned up for the Cinespia event, titled ‘Kirsten Dunst’s Sleepover,’ to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the films’ release. Deadline reported.

The Oscar-nominated actress, who is married to actor Jesse Plemons, 36, delighted fans by reciting a line from the cheerleading comedy Bring It On, in which she played the role of Torrance Shipman.

“I’m Torrance, your Captain Torrance. Go, Toros!” Dunst said in reference to the film.

Dunst told the crowd at the Southern California cemetery that she was “very humbled” by the turnout for her films and thanked Cinespia and its founder, John Wyatt.

“Oh my God, guys, this is the craziest thing I’ve ever witnessed in my life,” Dunst said. “I’m so overwhelmed. My friends and family are here, I’m going to watch it with you.”

He added: “I haven’t seen any of these movies in front of an audience since I was a teenager.”

In Bring It On, directed by Peyton Reed, Dunst played the role of Shipman, who attempted to reunite her high school cheerleading squad for the national championships after learning that the last captain had stolen routines from another school.

The film co-starred Gabrielle Union, Eliza Dushku, Jesse Bradford, Clare Kramer and Nicole Bilderback.

Bring It On hit theaters in August 2000 and grossed $90 million worldwide, with $68 million at the domestic box office and $22 million in international receipts. Box Office Mojo reported.

The Virgin Suicides, a romantic drama directed by Sofia Coppola, was based on the 1993 book by author Jeffrey Eugenides and is set in Detroit in 1975, with Dunst in the lead role of Lux Lisbon.

The film’s cast included Josh Hartnett, James Woods, Kathleen Turner, Michael Paré, Scott Glenn, Danny DeVito and AJ Cook.

The Virgin Suicides grossed $10.4 million at the worldwide box office, $4.9 million at the domestic box office and $5.5 million in international receipts, according to Box Office Mojo.

Cinespia, which shows movies at the cemetery, will air its final film of the 2024 summer season on Sept. 14 with a screening of the 1985 film Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.

The film’s star Paul Reubens, who died in July 2023, is buried at Hollywood Forever.
