Following a lengthy criminal investigation, a Melbourne worker has been charged with 13 sexual offences.

Kent Albert Stephenson, 51, was charged with 13 sex offenses, including eight counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape and three counts of sexual contact. The Herald of the Sun reported.

The offences allegedly took place between December 2018 and November 2022 in Melbourne.

The charges were filed in mid-August by Knox’s Child Abuse and Sexual Crimes Team.

The charge sheets reveal Stephenson allegedly slapped his female victim’s face with his penis, touched her bare breast and allegedly raped her multiple times.

At a hearing in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday, the prosecution and Stephenson’s lawyer had applied for a gag order to keep details of the case from the public.

Following consultation with Stephenson’s alleged victim, this request was dropped after she asked that the charges against Stephenson be made public.

The release of the material was granted by Magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano.

After the hearing, Stephenson tried to avoid media outlets waiting outside the courthouse to cover the case.

In court he was supported by a friend, whom he dramatically abandoned as he left the court and ran away from the media cameras.

Stephenson is due back in court on November 1.
