But on Saturday, the Wolf of Wall Street star enjoyed a brief weekend break from directing the dark comedy by waging a wonderful battle with Mother Nature during a day of surfing.
While the temperature peaked at 60 degrees Fahrenheit inland, it only reached 50 degrees at most along the coast, forcing him to wear a classic black wetsuit.
Sporting a tanned look, close-cropped hair, and a long, scruffy beard and mustache, the mid-’90s writer-director put his impressive surfing skills on display during his time in the Pacific Ocean.
Hill, 40, only took up the sport in the summer of 2019 after admitting he had been too afraid to try it when he was young.

From there, he made a short run into the waves and began paddling to a spot where he felt comfortable using it as a starting point.
By now, Hill has accumulated over four years of surfing experience after living in fear for most of his life.
But that all changed in August 2019, thanks to filmmaker Spike Jonze and Beastie Boys star Mike Diamond, who he credits with getting him into surfing.
‘I’ve been terrified of surfing my whole life. Totally random fear and at the same time it’s always been a secret dream of mine,” the This Is the End star wrote in an Instagram post showing him posing with an instructor in February 2020.

And from the looks of it on his frequent outings to the Malibu areas, Hall has not only overcome his self-imposed fears, but has also acquired real surfing skills.
At one point, after running through the waves several times, the comedian took a break and pulled down his wetsuit to his waist, which showed off his numerous tattoos on his chest, stomach and arms.
