Rock legend Jimmy Barnes has shared an update after suffering another health scare following open heart surgery and a hip replacement.

In an Instagram post by his wife Jane, Jimmy is seen in his hospital bed, eating, after revealing he needed hip surgery after experiencing severe pain following a series of shows in New Zealand.

“Thank you once again for all your messages of support for our Jimmy,” she wrote in the caption.

‘You are an amazing online community of family, friends and supporters offering your kindness and thoughtfulness during difficult times like these.’

She continued: ‘Jimmy is out of ICU and is recovering well.

“I brought healing chicken soup and chocolate chip cookies for afternoon tea. A little bit of home always helps on hospital days. Our kids are always there to take care of us. They are full of love.”

The 68-year-old Cold Chisel founder took to social media on Saturday to announce he was canceling the final shows of his current Hell of a Time solo tour.

The star, who underwent open-heart surgery last year following a hip replacement in 2022, has been looking ahead to the Cold Chisel 50th anniversary tour scheduled for October.

“I have some bad news, unfortunately,” Jimmy said in his Facebook post.

‘I had a twinge in my hip as I was leaving Dunedin (New Zealand) on Thursday morning and late last night the pain was unbearable so I went to hospital.

‘The doctors have recommended corrective medical treatment as soon as possible, followed by physiotherapy treatment to fix the problem. These doctors don’t beat around the bush!

“If all goes according to plan, I am expected to make a full recovery in six weeks.”

Jimmy continued: ‘However, as a result of this unexpected surgery, my solo shows in August and September will be affected.

Jimmy’s cancelled shows include concerts in Wyong, Toowoomba, Thirroul, Canberra and the Sydney Opera House.

Last month it seemed that Jimmy was on the mend following the shocking health scare he suffered last year, which forced him to undergo open-heart surgery.

The singer looked to be in top form as he worked out in a boxing ring.

While on holiday with his wife Jane in Thailand, he shared a photo on Instagram in which he posed in the gym of his luxury hotel.

The Working Class Man singer was all smiles in the sweet picture as he clowned around for the camera by raising his arms in a boxer position, as he jokingly prepared to train.

In the photo he looked healthy and confident, as he flashed his signature cheeky grin at the camera.

When he was rushed into the operating room for open-heart surgery, his doctors told him he had only hours to live: In a marathon seven-hour surgery, doctors successfully replaced his damaged valves and repaired his heart.

Eight months later, Barnes’ recovery is going well and he recently announced that his band Cold Chisel will embark on a national tour later this year.

In June, promoters announced further shows for the tour that has been dubbed ‘The Big Five-0’, featuring frontman Jimmy Barnes and bandmates Ian Moss, Phil Small and Don Walker.

The tour proved to be a box office success after Chisel Chisel’s management announced that 150,000 tickets had been sold across 16 concerts nationwide.
