Jessica Simpson He’s been putting in the time and miles as he works on his first new studio album in 14 years.
But the 43-year-old singer enjoyed some rare time off this weekend with the youngest of her three children: five-year-old daughter Birdie Mae.
Jessica, who shares her children with longtime husband and former NFL star Eric Johnson, posted a sweet selfie with Birdie to her Instagram on Saturday.
For the photo, the mother-daughter duo leaned forward, with Jessica playfully sticking her tongue out at the camera and Birdie smiling.
“Me and my birdie, me and my birdie…” Jessica wrote excitedly in the caption of her post.

Jessica and Birdie looked cozy in Saturday’s selfie, which showed them lounging on a couch at home.
Simpson was wearing no makeup and had her bright blonde hair down. She appeared to be wearing red flannel pajamas.
Meanwhile, Birdie, a recent kindergarten graduate, wore a thermal set with a white and red heart print.
Jessica previously spoke about all the traveling she’s been doing between her home in Los Angeles and a music studio in Nashville to work on her album.
“I’m back and forth a lot, so now they know what it’s like to miss me and I feel very loved,” said The Jessica Simpson Collection co-founder.
‘They helped me find a house (in Nashville), we all moved in, they picked out their rooms, that kind of thing, but they’re in school, so I have two weeks (in Nashville), two weeks at home.’
Along with Birdie, Simpson and Johnson are the proud parents of daughter Maxwell, 12, and son Ace, 11.
Simpson said her plan was to make sure her three children were settled and “secure enough in school and in life” before returning to music or acting, her other passions.

During an interview late last year, The Dukes Of Hazzard star revealed that he was planning to release his next album in early 2024, which would be followed by a tour in support of his new music.
That plan for an early year release has now passed, so fans will have to wait and see exactly when she’s ready to make her grand return to music.
The Abilene, Texas native, who began performing in church choirs as a child, landed a record deal when she was 17, leading to her debut, Sweet Kisses (1999), which peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, en route to selling more than two million copies.
For her second release, Irresistible (2001), she attempted to portray a more mature image, which led to her releasing five more albums until her second collection of Christmas-themed songs, Happy Christmas (2010).
In total, Jessica Simpson has sold more than 20 million albums during her career.
Simpson and Johnson got together in May 2010 when a mutual friend invited Johnson to a party at his house, to which the singer, actress and businesswoman revealed how they “connected on every level,” according to People.

The Texas native’s last album was the Christmas-themed Happy Christmas (2010).
