Justin Baldoni reportedly had no idea that his It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively involved her husband Ryan Reynolds in his film.
Although she proudly praises that her husband “wrote” the “iconic rooftop scene” that appears at the beginning of the film, E! News During a red carpet interview, a source claims Baldoni, 40, was left completely in the dark about Reynolds’ contribution.
A source said Variety that the revelation was “news to Baldoni, who thought the scene had been improvised by Lively.”
The publication noted that “the WGA did not respond to a request for comment on whether Reynolds’ work is a guild violation that could lead to a credit issue.”
Still, as the outlet notes, “movies can have uncredited writers,” but “rarely is the director unaware.”

DailyMail.com has reached out to Lively and Baldoni’s respective representatives for comment but has not yet received a response.
Previously, Christy Hall, who worked as a screenwriter on It Ends With Us, revealed to People that she didn’t know that Reynolds made some adjustments to the script.
‘There were a couple of little things that I thought were improvised. Like when he says, ‘Please, with a cherry on top,’ and she’s talking about maraschino cherries. When I saw a cut of it I thought, ‘Oh, that’s cute. That must have been a cute little thing improvised. ‘ So if they tell me that Ryan wrote that, then great, how wonderful.’
He added that he caught “some little details” that he hadn’t written down, but “assumed they had been improvised on set.”
“But, like I said, the moments that I felt needed to be honored are there,” she added. “So I recognize the scene and I’m proud of it. And if those gestures came from Ryan, I think that’s wonderful.”
Hall admitted that the rooftop scene was “probably the hardest to tackle” because it is “perfect in the novel.”
“In my first attempt at doing that scene, I tried to honor what Colleen wrote, almost word for word,” he explained.

While promoting the film, Lively shared that the Deadpool actor, 47, helped write the “iconic rooftop scene.”
“My husband actually wrote it. Nobody knows that except you,” Blake, who stars and produces the film, told E! News at the film’s premiere in New York earlier this month.
The actress, who recently made a cameo as Ladypool in Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine, added: “We help each other out. He works on everything I do; I work on everything he does. So his victories, his celebrations are mine and mine are his.”
It Ends With Us is based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 best-selling novel.
