Trudie added: “Since the 1980s, when I made films here in Rome at Cinecittà, Sting wrote one of his most emotional albums near Pisa the year after his parents died, and at the same time I gave birth to one of our children, Italy. It has a special place in our hearts for many reasons.’

Detailing how the family juggles Trudy and Sting’s busy work schedules, he said they are “proud” of them.

She said: ‘They appreciate that we are busy and satisfied. “All the kids have their own paths and careers and have a good work ethic, so we’re proud of them.”

Sting was the leader, songwriter and bassist of the new wave band The Police from 1977 until their dissolution in 1986. He launched a solo career in 1985.
