Good Things has cancelled this year’s festival lineup after successfully campaigning to welcome 16- and 17-year-olds to its Sydney shows.

Californian nu metal band Korn will headline the event, performing hits such as Freak On a Leash, 30 years after their self-titled debut album.

The band has won two Grammy Awards and multiple platinum album certifications over the past three decades and previously performed at Download festival in 2018.

The festival will bring Canadian rockers Sum 41 to Australian shores for the last time after the band announced last year that they would be splitting following a world tour and the release of their album Heaven x Hell.

The band rose to fame with their 2001 album All Killer, No Filler, featuring hits Fat Lip and In Too Deep, establishing themselves as pop-punk anthems.

Frontman Deryck Whibley said he’s proud of what the band has accomplished, but now it’s time to “let it all go.”

“It’s the right time to call it quits. I’m putting all my energy into what’s next. This is going to be the biggest tour of our lives and I want it to be the best show we’ve ever done. That’s all,” he said.

Violent Femmes will also take to the stage 41 years after their hit Blister In The Sun.

Australian punk band The Living End, hailed as one of Australia’s best live bands, have also joined the bill, bringing classic songs Prisoner of Society and Second Solution for the band’s only live performances of the year.

Dragon, known for classics April Sun In Cuba and Are You Old Enough, is expected to perform, while Bowling For Soup are set to bring alt-rock hits such as 1985 as they celebrate 30 years since they formed in Texas.

Sleeping With Sirens, with the songs If You Can’t Hang and If I’m James Dean, You’re Audrey Hepburn, are also expected to be a hit at the event.

The announcement follows successful request of Good Things will welcome 16- and 17-year-olds (with parent or guardian supervision) to the Sydney event this year after facing pushback in New South Wales despite Melbourne and Brisbane hosting festivals open to over-15s.

Festival-goers will once again be able to see a host of stunts, including knife throwing, on STAGE 666.

Good Things promoter Chris O’Brien said he was “really happy” the petition was successful and stressed the importance of supporting festivals that are still going on, such as 10 festivalsincluding Splendour In The Grass and Groovin The Moo, were cancelled this year.

“I can assure you we take to water like a duck,” O’Brien said.

“It may look fine on the surface, but in reality we are paddling very hard and it doesn’t feel like a calm lake.”
