A Glastonbury volunteer has revealed the incredible privileges she experiences as staff at the world-famous festival.
Day two began today at the festival, which was held at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, and runs until Sunday evening. More than 200,000 music lovers arrived yesterday before fireworks lit up the sky for the first night.
But as revelers prepare to form orderly queues for portable toilets, while paying up to £6.75 for a pint of beer, one volunteer working as a caterer at the venue revealed her experience couldn’t be more different.
Stef Smith from the UK volunteers at The Occasional Kitchen, a catering company in Glastonbury.
Posting a clip to her TikTok page, @stef_smith_af, the volunteer detailed the benefits she enjoys as part of her job, including flexible shifts, dedicated areas reserved for staff, and free food.
Stef Smith, from the UK, volunteers at Glastonbury and has revealed the incredible privileges she experiences as a staff member at the world-famous festival.
Responding to a question from one of her 66,000 followers about what kind of volunteer work she’s doing at the festival, Stef said: ‘I’m basically helping serve the team… kitchen support… and stuff like that. ‘
And he added: ‘Basically I’m doing three shifts. Tomorrow from 7am to 4pm, and then my next shift is on Wednesday from 12.30pm to 9.30pm, and then I have one last shift on Thursday, which is from 7am to 4pm.
Stef went on to explain the areas she has exclusive access to, as well as the free food she is entitled to.
She said: ‘I get one meal a day when I’m working, access to the team camp, I can go to all the team bars as well as any of the short routes that only the team can take.
‘I also have access to the crew showers, which are much better than the general camp. The bathrooms are better. There are many better things.’
In exchange for her volunteering, Stef gets to experience the festival outside of her work hours, and since her shift ends before 9pm, she gets to enjoy a round of festivities each night.
She said: ‘In exchange for doing that, I can enjoy the festival. I was actually very lucky because I originally tried to get tickets and didn’t get them.’
‘It was the lady who owned this company who saw my TikTok, contacted me and asked if I wanted to volunteer with them. Obviously I’m going to say yes!
