A young woman feared for her life after an adverse allergic reaction to lip filler solvent left her gasping for air.
Shaunna Harris, 24, from Bridgend, Wales, was rushed to A&E for medical assistance after her face swelled minutes after her lip filler was dissolved.
The radiologist had had her lips injected twice before opting to dissolve her pout last January.
But just moments after the solvent was injected, hives began to break out in his eyes.
‘I thought I was going to die. I thought that if my throat closed any more I would die. She was breathless,” Shaunna said.

The young radiologist assumed the procedure would be fine since she had previously had lip fillers injected into her pout twice.
The incredible images and videos show how much the young woman’s face had swollen before returning to normal a week later.
When her beautician noticed how severe her reaction to the solvent was, Shaunna rushed to the hospital where she was given adrenaline and put on an IV.
Before receiving the treatment, Shaunna was calm as her lip filler procedures had gone well in the past.
‘I took 0.5 ml when I was 18 and when I was 22 I took 1 ml. That ml never dissolved, it just migrated,” she explained.
“So I decided to dissolve the filler that had migrated and put another ml back in.”
However, the 24-year-old knew something was wrong as soon as the solvent was injected into her pout.
“I immediately knew something wasn’t right,” he said.
“I asked the beautician if it was normal and she said, ‘Yes, people’s lips tend to swell,’ but it didn’t seem normal.
“Then I started getting hives all over my eyelids within the next five minutes, which were very itchy and painful.
In just ten minutes, Shaunna’s face was completely swollen and she was having trouble even seeing with her eyes.
‘My face was completely swollen and puffy so (the beautician) took my car and took me to A&E. She looked unrecognizable.
After a 20-minute drive to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, Shauna had difficulty breathing and nearly fainted.
However, just ten minutes after the solvent was administered, he was left with hives all over, struggling to see, breathless and on the verge of fainting.
She revealed that she didn’t go out for days after the incident because she was afraid her face wouldn’t return to normal (pictured: Shaunna in hospital).
Concerned doctors attended to her immediately and added: “My body was covered in hives.
‘I felt like my skin was burning. As soon as I walked in, I couldn’t breathe. She couldn’t answer her questions because she couldn’t breathe. All the nurses were worried.
After the adrenaline was administered, Shaunna revealed that she was worried her face wouldn’t return to normal and was avoiding going out.
“When they gave me adrenaline, my airways opened up and my breathing got better,” he said.
But my face was swollen for several days. I was really worried that my face wouldn’t sink. I didn’t leave the house for three days.
