Home and Away fans have been left divided over a storyline set to rock Summer Bay in the coming weeks, with many branding it “absolutely stupid”.
Irene Roberts (Lynne McGranger) left Summer Bay last month to visit the city for a medical check-up and will return with her new friend Brontë (Stefanie Caccamo).
A preview of next week’s episodes showed the couple returning to the city after meeting in a hospital when Brontë was in “quite a state”, and Irene said she could live with her until she recovered.
But it is quickly discovered that the down-on-her-luck Brontë is not what she seems, as she is seen talking on the phone to someone about how she can exploit Irene.
Fans were left divided by the dramatic turn of events, with many taking to social media to rage at the “ridiculous” story and claiming the scam was too “predictable.”

“I don’t like this story anymore,” one fan complained, while another said there were “too many scam stories over the years.”
Others commented that the plot was similar to a recent story involving Leah (Ada Nicodemou), who returned from a mental health retreat with a mysterious new friend seeking to exploit her.

‘I’m getting tired of some of these stories. I’m thinking I don’t want to watch Home and Away anymore. “It’s getting ridiculous,” another fan commented.
But Brontë is not what she seems, as she is seen talking to someone on the phone about how she can exploit Irene (pictured), and fans are furious at the “predictable” storyline.

‘Here we go again. Didn’t something similar happen to Irene a couple of years ago? “I was bitten twice once out of embarrassment,” someone else complained.
One more user echoed these sentiments, saying: “Give it a break, will ya?”
