A hilarious video filmed at a wedding shows guests ignoring the wedding celebrations to watch England’s thrilling clash against Switzerland at the European Championships.
The video was posted on X, formerly Twitter, by Gary Stafford (@staffordgary) with a caption that reads: “At a wedding when the football is on, go England.”
It begins by showing a handful of guests gathered outside chatting in the sunshine, before panning out to reveal the rest of the attendees sitting at their tables or huddled around a projector broadcasting the quarter-final game.

Back in early June, when the European Championships kicked off, brides across the country were squirming at the thought that their guests, and more importantly, their partners, would prioritise football over their nuptials.
One such bride was Lauren Singer, who married the avid football fan on the day of England’s opening game against Serbia on June 16 and was “furious” about the clash.
“It’s the England game that my wedding is being played at,” the 31-year-old told Metro.co.uk. “It cost us £19,000… I wouldn’t mind if it was any other game because my guests wouldn’t mind as much, but it’s England.”

What is Lauren’s worst nightmare? She said: “Walking down the aisle of that church, everyone next to her is on their phones because they’re fans.”
