Harry Kane breaks his silence on England's Euro 2024 agony as he admits he is 'heartbroken' and that the Three Lions 'fell short of our target' in social media message to fans

Harry Kane has admitted he is “heartbroken” following England’s Euro 2024 agony and the Three Lions captain has broken his silence in a lengthy message on social media.

Gareth Southgate’s side lost their second successive European Championship final on Sunday after losing 2-1 to Spain, extending their trophy drought to 60 years.

Kane was substituted on the hour mark at the end of a tournament in which he was criticised for several ineffective performances and looked dejected at the final whistle.

But in an 84-word Instagram post addressed to supporters, the captain vowed to keep fighting and expressed pride in his team’s achievements over the past month.

“It breaks our hearts that we were unable to achieve what we worked so hard for,” she wrote.

“It was a long and difficult tournament and I’m very proud of the boys and staff for reaching the final. In the end we didn’t achieve our goal and we’ll have to live with that.

‘But as we always do, we will pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and be ready to fight again in an England shirt.

‘Thank you to all the fans who believed in us and supported us until the end!’
