It has already been brutally criticized by viewers who have branded it “boring” and “incredibly embarrassing” after the first episode aired on Channel 5 on Monday night.
And now even the Gogglebox stars have pointed to Phillip Schofield’s TV comeback, Cast Away.
The disgraced TV presenter, 62, returned to screens for the first time since being booted from ITV’s This Morning last year after admitting lying about his relationship with a much younger colleague.
The show shows the announcer stranded on an uninhabited island off Madagascar for 10 days with no food or water and no production crew.
In the first installment, Phillip searched for food and water, set up camp, and battled strong winds, before dramatically getting lost in the dark and unable to find his way back to camp.
Gogglebox stars Pete and Sophie Sandiford were left fuming over Phillip Schofield ‘throwing himself under the bus’ while watching the first episode of Cast Away.

Gogglebox stars Pete and Sophie Sandiford weren’t afraid to share their thoughts on the former presenter’s return while filming a recent episode of the Channel 4 show.
They were shown the first episode, in which Phillip says, “When you throw someone under the bus, you have to have a really good reason for doing it.”
Sophie quickly became enraged: “You created the bus and then you set foot on it,” and Pete agreed: “You created it, you drove it, and you threw yourself under the bus!”
“So…” Sophie added, before Pete sarcastically asked, “Who’s to blame?”
Fans rushed to X to agree with the brother-sister duo, writing, “You get canceled because you do things that aren’t right.”
‘It may not be illegal, but it is wrong. No one else did except Phillip himself. Nobody is for him. They didn’t throw him under a bus. In any case, he stood in front of a bus. #Gogglebox #Castaway.’
‘Oh hell no! I avoided that Phillip Schofield self-congratulatory show and should have realized it would be here! #Glasses box.’

‘I didn’t expect to see Philip Schofield’s bare bottom on TV tonight. Thanks #gogglebox. I can’t stop seeing that now. I just hope I sleep well tonight. If not, channel four, I’m coming for you.
‘My God, how tragic is Phillip Schofield? He brought everything that happened upon himself. #Glasses box.’
‘The glasses box that Castaway by Phillip Schofield shows is brutal. It will be interesting for real people to have an opinion #gogglebox.’
“To be honest, the Phillip Schofield thing didn’t really add much #gogglebox.”
