Images of Dutch royals watching a swimming event at the Olympics on Sunday show the normally serene Queen Maxima looking irritated.
The source of the 53-year-old’s anger appears to be her daughter, 19-year-old Princess Alexia of the Netherlands, openly chewing gum while engrossed in the 100-metre breaststroke final.
A photo of the teenager – the second of three daughters Máxima shares with her husband King Willem-Alexander – shows her tongue poking out of her mouth, with her gum clearly visible.
Meanwhile, a couple of seats away, the Queen can be seen watching the young royal, appearing to have a look of annoyance on her face.
She was also accompanied by her daughter Catherine Amalia, Princess of Orange, 20, as well as King Willem-Alexander. Her youngest daughter, Princess Ariane, 17, does not appear to have taken up the engagement.

Princess Alexia (pictured) was pictured with her tongue hanging out as she watched the 100m breaststroke final on Sunday.
Although her expression seemed annoyed, the rest of the royal’s look was flawless as always, as the Queen wore a striking printed dress with a host of bright colors.
Their swimming appearance is not the only event that Dutch royals have attended.
Queen Máxima and her husband King Willem-Alexander, 57, watched their country compete in the mountain bike cross-country final on Sunday.
The royal couple were accompanied by their daughters Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange, 20, and Princess Alexia of the Netherlands, 19.
Dutch runner Pieterse Puck came in fourth with a time of 1:29:25, losing by just a few minutes to the United States, Sweden and France, who took gold with Ferrand Prevot Pauline.
Watching from the sidelines, Máxima wore a stunning floral dress to complement the generously bright and sunny weather.
This comes after King Willem-Alexander was photographed enjoying a lively conversation on Saturday as members of the Dutch Royal Family visited the Athletes’ Village on the first day of the Olympic Games.
He also visited the Athletes’ Village on Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof.

Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange, and Queen Máxima looked slightly tense as the action unfolded in front of them.
Meanwhile, just like any other youngsters, the two princesses were seen taking out their mobile phones to capture the action.
A post shared on the Royal Family’s Instagram account on Friday wished the athletes luck, while sharing some of the family’s plans.
He said: ‘Best of luck to all TeamNL Olympians. Your hard work, dedication and passion have brought you this far. Enjoy (the games) to the fullest and make the Netherlands proud.
“We look forward to exciting matches and special sporting events in Paris.”
The optimistic message was signed by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.

PASSIONATE: At one point, the Queen was seen screaming, while her husband smiled broadly as they watched the event.
An additional caption on the post added: ‘The King, Queen Máxima, the Princess of Orange, Princess Alexia and the Prime Minister are in Paris for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
‘The royal couple and their two daughters will remain at the Olympic Games until 30 July. King Willem-Alexander is an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee.’
A second post, shared on Saturday, revealed more about the royal visit to Paris.
Wrote: ‘From July 26 to August 11, more than 10,000 athletes will arrive in Paris for the world’s biggest sporting event: the Olympic Games.
‘The King, Queen Máxima, the Princess of Orange, Princess Alexia and the Prime Minister will visit the Olympic Village where many of the athletes reside.’
